Exhibit of mine equipment outside the Compressor Building at Empire Mine. Visible here are a few pieces of the mining equipment. The Compressor Building housed the compressors that pumped air into the mine to ventilate it and to operate machinery in the mine.
Behind the Compressor Building is the Hoist House, of which only the roof is visible. It was here where skilled hoistmen raised and lowered men, supplies, waste rock and ore to and from the various mine levels.
