My name is Rob and I am a hobbyist photographer based in Sacramento, CA,
Now retired from public health as an analyst, I have turned my focus to photography. With my now-honed analytical skills, I look at the world in a unique fashion.
A believer in natural light, I tend to shy away from using flash in my photography, using it only when absolutely necessary. Photographs are meant to tell a story, one that should not be embellished or altered by using lighting other than that of natural light. Working with lines, patterns, textures, shapes, colors, shadows, and natural light, I use photography to communicate a story of a moment and place on the continuum of time.
I shoot a wide variety of photographic subjects, but tend to focus more on all things natural. I prefer the solitude of nature, which is where I am most comfortable but will, on occasion, break from the solitude and venture forth into other realms. These other realms help bring perspective to all things natural, bringing me back to what works best. Areas of photography that interest me include, but are not limited to abstract, flora, landscapes, macro, nature, and still life.
