On the bright mid-morning of October 13, 2012, during our Sacramento City College class field trip down to San Francisco, I found the ultimate viewpoint on the edge of Treasure Island.

Pushing the Lens to the Horizon

Standing on the shoreline, the sheer scale of the view was breathtaking. The entire San Francisco skyline sparkled brilliantly under the unfiltered California sun, appearing to beckon our group to come across and explore. There was a palpable sense of excitement and anticipation among my classmates as we looked toward the iconic buildings we would soon be touring from within.

To document this immense artistic urban panorama photography scene exactly as I felt it, I knew a standard, single frame would never be enough. Consequently, I pushed my Nikon D3100 camera to its absolute limits, carefully composing and capturing the sweeping vista in two separate, sequential shots.

Back in the digital darkroom, combining those two distinct exposures into a single, cohesive panorama worked incredibly well. The alignment was seamless, a result that pleased me and brought a deep sense of accomplishment.
